New Arrivals

EB has been in a full-blown rebirth since the addition of Clifton Collective three months ago.

For those of you that don’t know, we opened a sister store in Clifton Square to expand on a vision of offering patrons an awesome Midwest-based shopping experience while not cramming it all into a cute little skincare shop (us!).

With the opening of the Collective, it has given us the opportunity at EB to expand on our first true love(s): indie beauty, clean skincare and handcrafted goods.

Below is a little snippet of new arrivals. Be sure to follow us on FB/IG for continual updates on products and service specials.

WOW, What a Year!

With 2017 coming to a close, I want to take the opportunity to express my gratitude to each of you for your patronage, love and support as we continue to transition, grow and anticipate what’s to come.

This year brought us the blessings of new marriages and EB squad additions — new workshops and an expanded retail space — collaborations with Shop MondaysI Support the Girls, the Wichita State Dance Team, the Miss Kansas Organization — a growing community amongst each other, fellow local small businesses and clients, whom we consider friends.

EB HIGHLIGHTS FOR 2017:

  • Jessicah and Kadyn celebrate their 1 year anniversary with EB in October and January. Additionally, Jessicah comes on full-time with us in January. Lucky us!
  • We added three new members to our team in 2017: lash artist Becky and receptionists Devon and Rachel
  • Everyday Beaut became a Bella Lash Affiliate School: Juliana teaches classic and volume lash certification courses to certified estheticians and cosmetologists in the region
  • Jessicah and Kadyn became certified in volume lash application through Bella Lash
  • Our expanded retail space allowed for the collaboration with Shop Mondays, a local pop-up shop, permanently nestled into our space
  • New and fun workshops were brought to our multi-purpose space: a wire wrapping workshop led by Bree of ShopDaisyMade, a Self-Love Workshop led by Counselor and mindfulness advocate Kim German, Wichita Doula took us through a Postpartum discussion for new and expecting mothers and Robin Macy of Bartlett Arboretum brought the sought after Chipped China Mosaics workshop to EB
  • We had the pleasure of teaming up with I Support the Girls (an organization that donates bras and menstrual hygiene products to homeless women/women in need),  the Miss Kansas Org and the Wichita State Dance Team as the official lash extension sponsor, and Wichita Moms Blog for their annual Mummies Night Out

WHAT’S TO COME IN 2018:

Our team is growing once more as we bring on a waxing specialist and additional makeup artist for brides, bridesmaids, proms and other special occasion makeup. Maria Vega joins our squad January 1 and will be performing body waxing, makeup applications, facials and chemical peels and lash extensions.

Why Bella Lash?

At EB we specialize in lash extensions. In addition, we also provide other esthetic services along with offering a curated boutique of natural and clean skincare products. Like the skincare brands that are carefully chosen to stock our shelves, we were very intentional with our choice to solely use Bella Lash products on our clients for lash extension services.

My lash journey began 5 years ago in Dallas when I began learning and taking courses on how to apply lash extensions. It was big in Dallas before much word had been heard in Wichita, KS. When I relocated back to Wichita in 2014, I continued to lash friends and family on the side before going out on my own part time and investing in all kinds of lash products. I tried an assortment of products and brands of lash extensions as I learned the hard way, found things I liked and ultimately found a brand I loved.

A couple of years ago I found and fully invested in Bella Lash. Everything from their lashes, adhesive and aftercare had me hooked. And as trivial as it seems, their packaging sealed the deal. (Guilty. If the packaging is wretched, I won’t buy it.)

I love that Bella Lash is complete. From their products to their education, they provide a finished package whether you’re a lash artist or client/consumer.

As a lash artist I love that Bella is geared toward continuing education and being progressive in new technologies and high quality products. From lash extensions, tweezers and gel pads to aftercare and marketing materials.

As a client and consumer, I love that Bella provides an entire line of aftercare products. Cleansers, extension-safe mascara, sealant to protect and hydrate natural lashes and extensions alike and a lash growth serum that can be used solely and/or with extensions.

Lash brands, like all brands, are individual to everyone. It’s based on opinion and experience. I like multiple other brands for this or that – but when it comes to Bella Lash, I love it for everything.

**At EB, all lash artists are Bella Lash Certified and use Bella Lash Products. As a Bella Lash Educator, I currently teach certified Cosmetologists and Estheticians in the area and region the art of lash extensions.

Ladies Night: Sip + Mingle

We were so excited when a friend/client presented the idea of a “girls night” to us. In pursuit of a way to connect with girlfriends, utilize a space for noshing PLUS partake in a little makeup Q&A, we were thrilled to host an outing for this group of nearest and dearest girlfriends.

Yummy bites, a bit-oh-bubbly and an engaging makeup tutorial filled the evening with conversation, laughter and much needed girl time.

Our fellow lash and makeup artist, Kadyn Bell, took us step by step in demonstrating how to take a look from day to night; transforming eyes, lips and skin in the form of highlight and contour. Unveiling tips and tricks, Kadyn expanded on what products are worth the splurge and others you can settle for drugstore grabs.

It was so fun to connect with new faces, learn some new skill AND watch our young makeup artist in her zone: the makeup zone!

Interested in hosting a girls night? Give us a shout for details and customization of your perfect night outing.

What’s In A Name: Why Everyday Beaut

People here and there ask (and maybe more wonder), what’s in the name?

EB was thought of and born in Dallas originally. Amidst the hustle, bustle and metro lights I found myself trying to find my place, community, niche. After many failed attempts at being someone I wasn’t – I realized I can only be me: an everyday gal.

(Somewhat) normal, quirky, frazzled, sometimes late, multi-tasking, unsure, hard-working, full-hearted, sometimes jaded, optimistic, in pursuit of in-the-present-living, mostly happy, needing a hug kinda gal. Can I get an amen?!

I think back to my first clients, my business-building clients, our current clients: everyday women. Different journeys, steps, walks of life. And thank goodness for that.

Working women, mothers, students, entrepreneurs, widows, hair stylists, nurses, power lifters, doctors, social workers, teachers, Miss Kansas, pageant competitors, foster parents, dog rescuers, real estate agents – everyday women. And some gentleman, here and there.

When you walk through the doors of EB it doesn’t take long to realize we are everyday peeps doing our thing – just like YOU! Accompanied by one heck of an eclectic music selection.

In the event you were an inquiring mind, now ya know! The everyday lassie in us salutes the everyday beaut in you.

Self-Love

One thing I’ve come to know is that while self awareness and transparency with oneself is difficult, it is everything. Furthermore, it’s amazing when you candidly share your life experience how many other people share similar stories.

First, we are not alone.

Second, we are not called to be full of shame or guilt.

Third, if we took a look inward maybe we could reveal in ourselves ah-ha moments, areas in need of improvement and a little more compassion for ourselves and the journey that is so individually ours.

Taking care of ourselves physically, mentally and spiritually typically comes second to the needs of others. (guilty)

Finding time for all the things is difficult – but my “selfish” bone is surfacing and near demanding attention.

How thin do we expect to spread ourselves? What gives?

Kim German always says that we have to fill our bucket first in order to pour into others; into all the other things – spouse, kids, career, each other.

As a licensed therapist and mindful enthusiast, Kim will be leading our Self-Love Workshop this Saturday where we have the opportunity to put ourselves first. Furthermore, to absorb and take-away ways we can continue nurturing ourselves from the inside out.

Seats are limited. Link to purchase tickets below:

FAQ: What Do You Use On Your Skin

Easily, one of the most common questions I receive from clients – new and long standing alike – “What do you use on your skin?”

I’ve been referred to as granola by some, a GLAMnola by a few, and I suppose my skincare regimen lands somewhere in between (hehe). My skincare favorites have evolved over time but there is one thing I believe in and that works for me: natural skincare + professional product boosts offer great results.

My daily go to’s include a natural cleanser, toner, moisturizer and SPF. My weekly professional product boosts include a glycolic face wash and a serum.

What I have found on my skincare journey is that less is more and we are very capable of doing more harm than good to our precious skin. Whether we are dealing with acne, fine lines and wrinkles or hyper pigmentation, we lather on products in hope it will zap our problem child.

My best skin has surfaced with a good cleanser, toner and moisturizer – leaving my skin moisturized, never dried out, and therefore never stripped of its natural oils; the use of an acid+exfoliant three times a week to slough off dead skin cells and reveal newer skin; the use of an SPF everyday.

Another aspect of my skin I take into consideration is what I am putting IN my body. Afterall, our skin is an organ and just as upset stomachs and allergic reactions alert us when something has gone awry – so can our skin. Taking a look from the inside out is something I encourage all my clients to do.

Most recently: I am currently going through TMJ therapy and throughout the process I have come to learn that we all have inflammation in our body, the side effects inflammation causes and the power it can have over our health. As a TMJ patient, I have significant inflammation in my face, jaw, throat, ears and nasal passages. Oddly enough, six months prior to beginning my therapy I had began experiencing unexplained flushing in my cheeks – at this point my TMJ had escalated to its worst.

I suspected the flushing in my cheeks was due to the inflammation in my body but it wasn’t until I jumped on an anti-inflammatory eating regimen that I began to see and feel results – in ways I was not expecting. The flushing in my cheeks has gone down, I only experience drainage in my throat when I food cheat (oops) and the bloating I once experienced after nearly every meal is nonexistent.

While there is no one-size-fits-all skincare, I believe that quality and results oriented products paired with treating our body from the inside out will get us further on our pursuit for our best skin.

Final thoughts: find what works for you, stick to a regimen and treat yourself to a facial here and there. Drink plenty of water, increase your dark leafy greens + fruit and veggie intake, and if you want to be bad in the best way possible – become a fan of dark chocolate and red wine (they’re good for skin and anti-inflammatory!!)

Lessons Learned

Hindsight is always 20/20 and the journey is a big chunk of the fun, however, there are things I wish I had been conscious of when getting started. (I’m not a big should of, could of, would of person.)

There is no way to begin a goal, a challenge, a business without making mistakes and stubbing your toe. The key is: don’t let it deter you, distract you or discourage you beyond keeping going. While every journey is different, there is no question that they all include trial, error and lessons learned.

This is what I wish I would have embraced sooner in my expedition: it’s ok to fail, but it’s even better to keep going – trust the process.

My word/phrase for the first half of this year was keep going. Presently, my word is rally.

Life, endeavors and our day-to-day are full of seasons; seasons of ups, down, sleepless nights, questioning ones ability and ultimately determining what we want our life to be, look like and consist of.

Trust the process – the process that takes us not from point A to point Z, but from point A through Z; the process that teaches us diligence, persistence and dang it, hard work; the process that usually reveals a growth in oneself amidst the chaos.

I look at people I admire and look up to and acknowledge the process they must have endured to get to where they are. Textured, layered and full of stories – my favorite kind of people.

Whatever your goal, dream or challenge – trust the process. Trust the ups, the downs and everything in between. They are helping to shape your path and keep you growing. Keep going. And as they say: embrace the journey.

Welcome

Hi gals and guys! With EB’s new space opened and nearly complete, I thought what better time to introduce you to and let you in on our story, who we are and what we do.

Upon relocating back to Kansas after a five-year stint in Dallas, EB originated in the Riverside neighborhood of Wichita – making use of a small esthetics room in a hair salon. Unsure of the future, I worked an 8-5 day job in addition to taking clients evenings and weekends. Halfway through my lease I knew I needed to decide whether I was going to pursue EB full time or continue juggling multiple gigs. I stumbled upon a 400 sq ft rental in Clifton Square and took the leap of faith – I quit my job and went for it.

This 400 sq ft bungalow was everything I dreamed of and more: quaint, adorable, comfy, cozy, free smells.

It wasn’t until I was selected to join an instructor training course for lash extensions through Bella Lash that I knew I needed more room for teachings and students.

And now here we are – in 1400 sq ft of pure heaven and comfyness within Clifton Square.

We specialize in lash extensions, clean skincare, handcrafted goods and free smells (come in and smell for yourself!). Recently we added a dear friend and artist to our team, Audrey Cotton. She is newly certified in lash extensions and is a master makeup artist. We are honored and thrilled to have her on our team and to add professional makeup application to our service menu. Check her out: AudreyCottonMUA

In addition to esthetic and makeup services we offer a wide variety of organic, natural, gluten-free, vegan and hand-crafted skin care products – home goods – jewelry.

The journey has been fun, entertaining and full of gratitude. Thank you for your continual love + support. Pop in and say hi!
